Urgent gas main replacement work is continuing in Chichester.
Market Avenue
The eastbound lane of Market Avenue is now closed and is expected to remain closed for around three weeks.
This means vehicles cannot travel eastbound along Market Avenue. A signed diversion route is in place.
Basin Road
The next stage of work is due to begin on Monday 13 July 2026.
Basin Road will be closed from its junction with Canal Wharf to the railway crossing.
During the works:
- There will be no vehicle access past the road closures
- Signed diversion routes will be in place
- Access to homes and businesses within the closure will be maintained where it is safe to do so
- Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times
Please allow extra time if travelling through this part of Chichester.
