A brief outline of Oaklands Park follows…
“Oaklands Park is a wonderful green space in the heart of Chichester, which includes high quality venues for culture, sport and leisure.
Our association, the Friends of Oaklands Park was formed two years ago to protect and treasure the park for its biodiversity and the opportunities it offers to the community. Since then we have organised a number of events such as tree walks, talks about the history of the park, hedge planting and fruit harvesting.”
“We wish to raise awareness of all the park has to offer in order to encourage residents to make greater use of it. We also wish to encourage more visitors to the city to enjoy the park and all it has to offer.”
City Green spaces are under threats and need protecting. This article describes current proposals to nibble away at its size. Please note this is David Cooke's personal opinion and does not state official Association policy. He can be a bit of a dreamer sometimes!

We are investigating QR codes for the park as well as considering and costing possibilities such as installing a new bench, and bird and bat boxes.
We have just completed planting a new hedgerow, in partnership with the Festival Theatre and Transitions Chichester.
FoOP are a small local dedicated group,

We have recently organised social events. There will be a meeting on 7th March with lecture by Mr Alan Green on the history of Oaklands Park.
